Who Made Bombanana? Lefto Studio, TARK and the Team
The studio
Lefto Studio is based in Istanbul, Türkiye. When the demo took off during Next Fest it was, in the studio’s own words, “just 2 people making a game we thought was fun”; by September the pinned FAQ lists five names:
- Ufuk Girit — game director
- Ece Aslı Erikci — art
- Tarık Aydın — programming
- Furkan Çağlar — programming
- Tunahan Özden — intern
Team members previously worked on Liars Bar and We Are So Cooked, two other small co-op games; the FAQ says the demo’s success “reassured the team that there’s still a desire for more fun and chaotic co-op games.”
The art
The hand-painted look came from Ece Aslı Erikci, a 2D artist the team met at a game jam. In an August dev post she described a style that “doesn’t rely on line art and instead focuses heavily on vibrant color combinations and painterly textures”, and explained that the launch version repainted every in-game object so the 3D van would match the 2D UI. In a July podcast interview she mentioned that the blindness mechanic was partly inspired by Avatar: The Last Airbender.
The publisher
TARK Games signed on after the demo blew up — the August 1 post describes bringing in “a local publisher, recommended by friends we trusted” to handle creators, PR, community management, localisation, QA and regional support. TARK’s site lists BOMBANANA! alongside Terrible Life Expectancy, KORRIDOR and Mad Ever After. Press contact: [email protected].
