The Bombanana Demo: 7 Levels, 6 Million Players, Now Offline
Timeline
- June 15–22, 2026 — Steam Next Fest. Lefto streams the game and the demo becomes the festival’s #1 most played.
- June 16 — hotfix: Italian manual pages, the Calculation Module text, lobby joins, voice delay.
- July 3 — macOS support added to the demo.
- August 1 — Lefto reports 6 million demo players and the “second most played demo on Steam” for June–August.
- August 12 — release date set; demo removal announced for August 19.
- August 20, 16:00 UTC — demo taken offline (one day later than first announced). Private playtests begin via Discord; 1,000 testers took part.
- September 2 — full game launches at $7.99.
What was in it
Seven campaign levels built from four modules: Cable (level 1), Direction (level 2), Calculation (level 3) and the Switch panel (level 5), with levels 4, 6 and 7 combining them. Level 7 was the end, which is why “can’t go past level 7” became a search term and why players asked on the forum how many more modules the full game would add. The campaign levels page has the level-by-level evidence.
Why it was removed
Lefto’s August 19 post: “the way we set things up makes it extremely difficult to [keep the demo up] while allowing us to test the features coming in the full game.” The demo and the launch build shared infrastructure, and the team had “only a few of us”.
Is the demo coming back?
Two statements, in order:
- August 19: “We can confirm that the demo will definitely come back when we launch the full game, it will have the same amount of content as the current demo AND a couple new things too!”
- September 2 (pinned FAQ): “The team is focusing on the game launch; once that is done, we’ll reassess if it’s possible to bring the demo back.”
As of September 3 the store page has no demo button. Until it returns, the only way to try the game is the $7.99 full version, and everyone in the trio needs a copy.
Demo records
The demo’s seven levels were speedrun as a set; the fastest video we know of is 4:28 retimed. See speedruns and records.
